Shutter Style

There are, just like with any design feature, rules to good design. But take a look at these projects that give a personal twist to this weather feature.

The Eleanor
Architect: Visbeen Architects, Inc.
Builder: GC: Brian Osbourne
Interior Designer: Libby Boyden Interiors

Located in Bluffton, South Carolina, this home sports farmhouse décor inside and out. Shutters on all front windows are sized correctly – that is, they would cover the window if closed – but add a modern farmhouse twist with barn door styling.

Torrey at Beacon Park – Plan 1
Architect: SDK Atelier
Builder: Standard Pacific Homes
Interior Designer: Ver Designs
Developer: FivePoint Communities
Land Planner: FivePoint Communities
Interior Merchandiser: Ver Designs

This home in Irvine, California uses a natural blue hue for its shutters on doors and windows. Left shutterless is the romantic second floor diamond-paned window, creating an elegance balance between the unique shutter color and unique front window of this home.

The Chorley Cottage
Architect: Clark & Co Homes
Builder: Clark & Co Homes
Interior Designer: Clark & Co Homes
Developer: DMB Development

Take a look at the arched windows of this Eagle, Idaho home. Contrary to the other windows of the home, all of the arched windows feature shutters. The arch and the shutters work together to call attention to both details without going overboard in detailing.
