Home of the Week: Lincoln Park Transitional Home

This 12,000-square-foot, single-family home boasts classical, French-style architecture, with a limestone façade and lavish gardens fitting perfectly into the vernacular of Chicago’s Lincoln Park.

It was a Platinum Best in American Living Awards (BALA) winner for One-of-a-Kind Custom or Spec Home Over 8,000 Square Feet.

With more than 50 different types of tile and stone, this project and its multitude of details is a true example of strict quality control.

To accommodate as much natural sunlight as possible, BGD&C conducted sun studies to ensure all areas received maximum sun exposure.

A spa-like indoor swimming pool was built on the lower level, complete with changing rooms, showers, and lockers.

The kitchen, which was most important to the owners, includes a large, eat-in kitchen/family room with patio and yard attached, ample counter space, seating, and cabinets.

BALA judges loved this “beautiful house” that “looks like it was built in the 1800s” with “exquisite exterior detailing,” “solid design outside and carried all the way through,” and “timeless.”
