Home of the Week: Casa Uber Alles

Home Design

To be honest, this project that combined talents of a Texas HBA and local high school students was one of our absolute favorites!

Casa Uber Alles, The Best in American Living Awards (BALA) Judges Discretionary Award winner for Educational Building Trades Program, is a Tiny House on the Fredericksburg, Texas, high school grounds.

The program was focused on revitalizing the Building Trades program at the high school and providing students with the opportunity to gain actual hands-on training.

Students worked closely with local builders, trade partners, and suppliers, who served as mentors, and earned credit for building the one-bedroom home.

The concept home was named Casa Uber Alles, meaning “home with pride.” The home took eight months to complete and includes a living area, dining area, full kitchen, bath, one bedroom, closet, and laundry space.

The completed home was auctioned off and the proceeds applied to funding a second concept home for next year’s Building Trades Class.

This program by local HBA members and staff, trade partners, high school staff, and community volunteers, provides future high school students valuable career training, life skills and knowledge of teamwork.
