Spotlight on Community: Laureate Park in Lake Nona
Laureate Park in Lake Nona is a 21st-century community where sustainability, design, and technology are at the core of healthy living. While this site plan follows a classic neighborhood design, including alley-loading garages, welcoming front porches, and community parks as focal points, the architecture is decidedly different, consisting of brightly colored bungalows, townhomes, cottages and multi-story houses from a wide-range of builders. Builders are intermixed through the various phases of development and adhere to strict guidelines for repeat models and color palettes to offer residents many options without repetition. The unique homes are complemented by modern design, transitional architecture and technology features, all situated alongside health and wellness centers, landscaped green belts, pocket parks and trails.
Homes in Laureate Park are created in conjunction with GE’s Ecomagination program featuring some of the most innovative, energy efficient and sustainable designs available and is wired with fiber optic cables that allow internet connections up to 10 times faster than is typical in the U.S.
At the heart of the neighborhood is the five-acre Village Center, a new type of amenity center consisting of a collection of buildings with different uses. By doing so, the uses inside become both unique and more visible to both residents and potential purchasers. The Village Center provides residents with a centrally located destination complete with a highly-acclaimed waterfront restaurant featuring a chef-driven menu and market with a collection of housewares, books, and locally curated goods, and gives an ongoing opportunity to speak to residents about community developments at the information center integrated within the market. The Village Center also includes a resort-style aquatic center with daybeds, cabanas, family pool, sand volleyball, and lush landscaping and a grass hill for privacy. Residents have access to an upscale fitness center with weekly advanced yoga and cycling classes, the Lakehouse, a venue for community and private events, and a city wide bike-share program. The unique design and layout of the Village Center offers flexibility of building uses in the future, allowing for expansion as the community grows.
The community also features two neighborhood gardens where residents can harvest their crops, miles of trails, mews and pocket parks, and Crescent Park, which plays host to weekly music events, farmer’s markets, and tai chi and yoga classes, bringing hundreds of neighbors together each week.
