Home of the Week: Farmhouse on the Knoll

Home Design

A property dear to their hearts, the Caledon, the Ontario homeowners wanted to call “Farmhouse on the Knoll” home years before purchasing the charming, heritage farmhouse from family friends.

The Caledon, Ontario, Canada home was a 2017 BALA Gold winner for Historic Preservation/Restoration.

Without compromising the history and character of the log farmhouse, the design blends country charm and tradition with all the modern luxuries available today.

Painstaking efforts were made to preserve or replicate as many original elements as possible, including exterior logs, barnwood paneling, fireplaces, trim, doors, chinking, and windows.

Contrasting the traditional exterior and natural surroundings, the interior boasts the latest in innovation, including a Tesla-charger, hot-roof system, top-of-the-line appliances, Paradigm sound-system and automation.

Judges were impressed, noting the Farmhouse “stayed true to the original concept,” and “what they worked with is pretty incredible.”
