Help Create the 2018 NGBS

Nominations are now being accepted for the committee that will develop the 2018 version of the National Green Building Standard.

While the ICC/ASHRAE 700-2015 National Green Building Standard is just beginning to be used to certify new single- and multifamily homes, remodeling projects and land developments, the standards development process — like the practice of sustainable, high-performance building itself — doesn’t sit still.

NAHB and its partners in the standard, ASHRAE and the International Code Council, have committed to revisiting the content every three years. Doing so enables them to learn from certification case studies and advances in green building practices to create an even more cutting-edge document.

The Home Innovation Research Labs, which has certified nearly 100,000 projects to the standard since the first edition was introduced in 2009, will again serve as secretariat, or administrator, of the standard development process.

Visit its standard development webpages to learn more about how to submit a committee nomination or to serve on one of the task groups that advise the committee on green building practices. Applications must be received by Feb. 6 for a committee slot, although task group applications will be open longer.
